1995 E34 M50TU.

I thought I did all my homework on this swap, but when I went to install it, I ran into a problem mating it up to my factory Air Box.

I have all the supporting mods for the MAF
21.5lb injectors, the proper OBD1 540 MAF, s50 Cams, I have one reducer sleeve to adapt to the 3.5 MAF, and I have a proper tune for the set up.

I guess first question, does the adapter boot go into the air box and then onto the MAF, or does the adapter boot go from the MAF into the intake boot? Which side of the MAF does the adapter install onto?
