    256,000 miles- too much?

Looking to get another BMW- found a 2003 Z4 with 256k miles on it? Is this a car that should be considered? Everything looks amazing on it. Anything I should look for? Cost to replace these engines?

    Thanks.

I mean, if it is super clean, mileage may not be that big of a deal. Will be more about how well it has been maintained, how many owners have been doing that maintaining, and how much are they asking for it. Low mileage cars go for more money, but not guaranteed to be better than a high mileage car, depending on how well they have been maintained.

I would say specific to the engine even at that mileage, if oil has been changed at 5-7.5k intervals rather than waiting for the oil change light to come on, it will be clean inside and not worn our or in need of replacement. My kid had an E36 with the M52tu engine with 250k miles and excellent compression, no oil consumption, ran great. Was a one owner car, very well maintained.

Really a lot of things to take into account, but I would not immediately run from the car based on the mileage, it would be just one consideration among many, and see which consideration is most important to you.

Mine has 179k, now runs fantastic. I will drive the car less than 3k miles a year for the remainder of its life, so don't really care about mileage.
