Spent most of the day working on replacing the bushings in my 2004 325i. Bought the Meyle HD pair from TMS. I was mainly worried about getting the old ones off the arm, but a gear puller worked perfectly. But getting the new ones on was a different. They are VERY tight. I managed to get the lelft one on with generous silicone grease and swings from a 4 lb mallet. comparing the inner dimensions of the new with the old, given they've been on the arms many years, the new Meyles' are about 3/16" smaller. The rifght side turned out to be more of a problem. Working with the car on jackstands, since I'm right handed I have to be under the car to get a good swing on the mallet. Even then its pretty difficult to get a full swing. Long story short got it to within 1/4" of home and no further. Going to try an impact hammer tomorrow. Any other ideas?
Mystery solved. 9 of 10 Youtube pundits said to use Silicone grease. One said to use Dawn dish detergent. With Silicone I couldn't hammer it on far enough. With Dawn, it went on by hand too far, I had to back it off to line up mounting holes. Lesson leaned!
