Taking delivery of a 2014 F10 528i soon. Anything to watch out for?

Hi all,

I will soon be taking delivery of a nice looking F10 2014 528i. Its an N20 engine. Can I ask if this year model is affected by the timing chain elongation issue?

I did a replacement of the timing chain on my 2012 F30 a couple of years ago have the car has been driving nicely but I will be letting go this car to make room for the F10.

Anything else I should watch out for? Thanks.

I have only had mine for a few weeks, and still learning about it, but I’ve been a mechanic for 35 years. A couple of things….vacuum pump, watch for it filling your vacuum lines with oil, cracked plastic valve cover (the aluminum upgrade is a nice part), and timing chain.

Yes, the N20 has a timing chain and guide issue. This year is definitely affected. You should know what to look for since you already did one.
