Swapping cruise controls buttons to other side of wheel

Hi,

I have a F15 X5 Msport RHD. I want to swap the audio and cruise control buttons from right to left as it's annoying to have the cruise control on the left side in a RHD car. I figure I can do this with some soldering a cable extensions but wondering if there is an easier way I don't know about?

I also thought I may be able to swap the control boards around but this will result in the control being the wrong way up, I don't know enough about the board to know if I can simply swap some of the wires around to fix this?

Hi,

You'll need to take the steering wheel off, open it up and evaluate the PCB's and any interconnects etc to see if it can be done. I'm not so knowlegable on the more modern BMW's but I wouldn't be surprised if the electronics are done on the optical bus system and that the electronics will be shaped specifically to fit into the steering wheel in a specific location only and won't be able to the 'swapped over with wiring extensions soldered in' etc.

You might want to ask in the X5 section and any specific forums as this isn't really anything to do with Car Audio and other owners may already have asked this and perhaps can give you pointers etc
