Hello folks!
I am kind of new, had an account here a while ago and few posts but lost the credentials and had to make a new one.
So, with that said, I am cleaning out the garage and need to decide on what to do with 4 replicas of M-Parallel staggered rims that I have.
These were on my E38 when I first got her before I bought her a new OEM set of M-Parallels.
Sell them?
Would it be better to clean first? Refinish first? Or sell as is? What should I do?
I am really not up to what is going on with the wheels today and very much need your advice.
The rims are very dirty and have curb rash, and general lack of TLC.
I could get them to steam cleaner, I could pay for re-finish, but I don't know if it makes any sense.
Please, let me know what you think, thank you guys.

at a minimum, clean them the best that you can. It just helps with trying to sell them. personally, I don't think it's worth trying to re-finish a set of reps with the goal to sell them. Value is clearly less than a real set, I think you'd be lucky to get $100 a wheel, less depending on amount of damage/rash.

Hi OtherGenius!
I went to a re-finishing shop and got a quote to re-finish my rims to a perfection, this would be $260 per rim. They would look indistinguishable from the OEMs other than the branding on the inside of the spokes. This includes checking and fixing for the bends if any and removing the curb rush.
At this price, if I add $50 per rim, $50+$260=$310 I am already getting in the range of used great condition OEM rims. So, no. No repair. Like you pointed out, it makes little sense.
In the meantime, I have already posted them to the Orange County CL while I was looking for the repair quote. Posted as is. Dirty. For $50 each.
Will have to find a steam clean service and get them cleaned up and re-post may-be for like $60 each?
Thank you for your thoughts!
Hi,
As per above, other's may give more, but for unbranded fake wheels, I'd only ever look for a set to act as a slave set to store a car or whilst it has work done to it etc, I'd personally never run them on the public roads, hence I'd give maybe $150 for the set.
Clean them up as best you can, don't spend money on them and sell them as is.
Cheers, Dennis!
