1889 325i Sedan - Guibo to Manual Transmission

I need to preface my post with the fact that I'm reassembling an E30 after many years of being dis-assembled. So, I have little memory of how parts fit.

I'm using new BMW OE bolts to secure the driveshaft guibo to the transmission. I'm assuming that the bolts are pressed into the guibo from the rear, leaving all bolt thread/nut protruding from the transmission side of the guibo. Is this correct?

The problem I'm having is that one of the pressed-in bolts (round bolt head) will not grip the steel bushing in the guibo and therefore spins when I try to torque down the locknut.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

bolt heads "pressed in from the rear" meaning from the rear tires towards the transmission - is correct.

Make sure the guibo arrows are correct - and pointing to the flange.

If I understand correctly - the steel bushing should not spin? unless I am missing something - that would suggest a bad guibo.
Can you post a pic of what you mean?

below is the pic of a damaged one - see the cracks - also the metal bushings should not spin.

there are tiny arrows on the guibo itself. they point to the bolts and bolt direction. it's easy to install incorrect.

More accurately, the arrows point at the flange for proper orientation. The bolt typically passes from the flange side and into the guibo, but it is not a rule.

I think you have the wrong bolts! I believe you should have 6 hex bolts with hex nuts. You need two wrenches to install. There's nothing to keep the bolt from spinning.

I think the differential uses a captive bolt that has a round head. You may have bought the wrong bolts.

The round head bolts I have were freshly purchased from the local BMW dealer. But they are not working out as I explained in my post.

I'm replacing the guibo and I purchased some Hex head bolts from Tacoma Screw. Using two wrenches should eliminate the problem.

Thanks so much for all responders pitching in. The photos were very helpful in understanding that the bolts can be installed from the rear side of the guibo.

    Cheers
