    Crankshaft Vibration Damper

1997 m3 sedan with 178,000 miles. Should I consider replacing the crankshaft vibration damper or do they last forever? Any advice is appreciated.

They can fail but they are not known for failing like on an M57 (for example). I wouldn't bother with it unless it looks weathered and you just want it to look new.
