    2.0L 4cyl engine longevity

I was looking to buy a 2019 430i coupe with the 2.0L 4cyl engine. I asked my BMW mechanic what he thought about the 4 series, and he said not to get the one with this engine. He said to get the 6cyl (435i or 440i) because it will last longer and have fewer problems. Is this true and would someone here please expound on this? Thanks!

That car has the B-46 motor, not the N-2x which is the motor I am sure the mechanic was referring to. I have a similar B-48 in the 220i and it's a very lovely motor, doesn't have the issues that the N-2x motors have.

I echo the same thoughts, the B46 2.0 4-cyl is a great motor

Thank you for the information! The B46 engine... is that also in the 2020 430i's? What about the xDrive models?

Yes, it's pretty much the same motor. There has been some slight improvements, so they will have the nomenclature of B46D to denote that for example.

BTW the 4-Series of 2020 will be a G-Model, and not an F-Model so newer body style.
