Is it possible to swap my 2002 TII engine out for aN54.
If you have enough money, anything is possible. The fact that you are asking means you do not have this level of DIY fabrication skills, so you will be paying shop(s) to do the work. If you can use google, you will find one example of an N54 swap into a 2002. I don't recall all the details. It is a lot of power that comes on at low rpm for the old chassis so reinforcements should be added.
The later six cylinders are a real tight squeeze for the space. The earlier M20 based motor was smaller but still a tight fit. I have a 2002 that I am restoring and have been thinking about motors. I would consider a Honda k24, but may just turbo the M10 and use aftermarket EMS to run it. Something like 200-250 rwhp would be plenty for this chassis in my opinion and a stock M10 should hold the lower end of that range. I might just build it since it is always tempting to raise the boost a little -- I have a fully built turbo E36 M3.
