1987 325i convertible, cinnabar red w black top, automatic transmission.

For sale by owner in Hollister, CA.

miles: 200,000+ odometer stopped working around 170,000 a few years back.


I just installed brand new Bosch fuel injectors, spark plugs, fuel filter and air filter. Engine is running well.

The good:
* body is in great shape.
* no rust! (lived its life in California)
* runs and drives

* starts well cold and warm.
* no leaks
* transmission is smooth and has never had a problem.
* all power windows work
* a/c works, was converted to r134a. not real cold.
* hey, it's a red 325i convertible and you've been wanting a project.
* The soft top and rear window are intact, no tears/rips.
* has the sport seats.

The not as good:
* timing belt needs to be replaced.
* could use a new paint job
* ragtop latch handle is broken. Can be used, but barely.
* ragtop should be refitted, adjusted, or replaced, difficult to get it down.
* odometer not working
* fuel gauge is erratic. reads correctly sometimes.
* dash is cracked.
* radio (original) works erratically.
* on-board computer works erratically.
* sport seats need to be recovered or replaced.
* jumpy on rough roads
* a/c fan only works on Max.

why selling: bought a family car. The bimmer has just been sitting for last 18 months.

Vehicle history:


Bought used from a dealer in 1999 with 115,000 miles on it. Head overhauled in 2000. Vehicle sat from 2002 until 2009 in a shed. Daily driver 2009-2021, with approx 10,000 miles/year. Sat from Mar '21 until present. Regular maintenance performed.
