Hello,
My beloved E36 M3 is no longer passing smog, and it's got low compression on one cylinder, wet or dry. 240,000 (hard!) miles, I'm 99% sure it's time for an engine rebuild.
The last time I had a BMW engine rebuilt, it came back a noisy piece of crap. I live in the East Bay, but I'm willing to drive a bit for a good shop. Also, I'd prefer not to get wallet-raped just because my engine has a roundel on it. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Should probably go as far from the Bay Area as you can if prices are a concern. Have seen a few CA shops recommended in the forums over the years but don’t recall the names. Maybe track down a frequent CA poster to ask for advice.
You might check with Matt Medeiros at Vt Motorworks in Pleasanton, see what he says. (925) 425-7603
