    1989 325i turn signal issue

Long time forum browser first time poster in desperate need of help. I have checked the forums and not been able to find a solution to my exact problem.

I am getting no power to my front turn signals with both the stalk and hazard button. I have my rear turn signals and hazards. I also still have both left and right indicators on the gauge working, however they seem to be flashing more quickly than usual. I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box related to turn signals and all are good. Could this be the flasher unit? Do I have to retrace all of the wires looking for the splices and fuses? What is my best course of action?

start with the bulbs. the flasher works on resistance, it flashes quicker if a bulb goes out. make sure the bulbs are not burnt, clean, and grounded. move to the flasher from there if the bulbs are good.

I currently have the bulbs out and am testing the power to the plug with a multimeter. Is there a chance the issue is still the bulbs? Would I not be getting power to the plug despite the bulbs not being installed? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I am newly self taught on electrical stuff.

clean the sockets well. the bulbs ground against the socket and can fail over time with build up etc.

Cleaned sockets and checked bulbs, they are all good. I replaced the flasher relay and the indicators are now flashing at a normal speed but there is still no power coming through the turn signal plugs. What should be my next step?

When you turn on the headlights, do you get parking lights on the front? Those may be easier to trace as they are constant on. That would tell you if that half of the circuit is working.

How about the fuses. It appears on my wiring diagram that the lights use multiple fuses..

Indicator issues can be caused by the hazard button itself as well.
I don’t know if a loose wire there could exclude the front indicators like this, but I would add it to the checklist.
