    2001 540iT Non-DSP Amp Confusion

    So,

My 01 540iT that I recently picked up from a friend has a non-DSP system. When I turn the radio on, everything lights up and buttons function as they should but no audio is produced. I’ve checked fuses so I’m assuming the amp is the culprit.

I pulled it out today to check the part number and gave it a Google. The only results are for sale from outside the US. Is there perhaps another part number that would be compatible?

Have you checked to see if the skinny white wire on the 12 pin connector has 12 volts on it when you turn on the radio?

I haven’t. I’ve been meaning to snag a decent multimeter just haven’t gotten around to it. I’ll order one.

When I picked up my touring a couple years ago, the radio pixels lighted up, but no audio. I found an amp in a sedan in a U-pull yard. The part number didn’t match, but the plug configuration was the same. Swapped it out for my original, and the audio now works fine.
Thanks for the pin-outs in the above reply. These will come in handy down the road.

I need to pick up a multimeter and test the wires
