Wanted get feedback and experience from anyone that has replaced stock chip with EAT or JC Chip in an E34 1995 540i that has an automatic transmission.
Heard all the rave from manual transmission owners upgrading the stock chip, but does it make sense on an automatic transmission and are there any noticeable gains and is it worth doing at $250 for the chip and moving to 92 octane.gas at extra 10-15 cents per gallon?
Would like to hear from anyone that has done this upgrade on automatic transmission feedback and to see if it was as big of a bang for the buck? Thanks.

I don't have direct experience, but a friend put an Auto-Thority chip in his ECU and also their transmission chip in his e32 740i automatic. He was very pleased with the results with the combo. I think Dinan still offers transmission chips for a 540i

Thanks, I am not familiar with the Dinan transmission chip, been reading up on this. Also my production date is 1/1995 and might have to deal with EWS II compatibility.
Before I manual swapped, I did the Dinan TCU chip. It will wake your car up. Night and day difference in holding revs and not lazy shifting. It even spun the tires once. When I added the DME chip on top, it was not as noticeable a difference vs the trans chip.
Thanks good to know the TCU chip over DME chip. Does the TCU chip works both for automatic transmission and manual transmission?
When/if you swap, the TCU will be deleted, so only for auto's. Also, an auto DME chip will work with a manual swapped car, but is not optimal.
Thanks for the info.
