Our 7-86-built 325e (unmodified condition) has several drivability issues. It is hard to start, lacks power and often hesitates, misses and stalls.
Could all of these symptoms point to a central cause? Incidentally, the cold-start injector was replaced several months ago.

Check your spark plugs for condition as well as the distributor cap and rotor.
Check your fuel pressure as your fuel pump may be failing
Check the intake tract for cracks/leaks.
Thanks, guys; I'll check out the ignition system. Question: how many ohms resistance should the plug wires have?
The Bosch fuel pump was new two years ago.

check or replace all the intake and vacuum hose rubber.
Step 1- smoke test, make sure the engine is sealed.

Thanks, 95BMWIC. When you say "spark plug end connectors" and "distributor cap connectors", are you referring to the end terminals crimped directly to the wires? If so, I'm not sure how one would test them individually. I can simply test both terminals simultaneously and I should get an aggregate resistance which should be somewhere around 1,500 ohms, yes?

This is how I understand it (and have tested it)
probe the spark plug wire from plug end connector to the other connector at the distributor 5000 + - 1000 ohms resistance
probe the coil wire from the coil connector to the other connector at the distributor- 1000+- 200ohms
