Looking to replace the door handle gaskets on my '96 convertible. Did a quick Google search and several videos appear that show a very easy process to replace the gaskets - for hardtops. The hardtops have a plug that is even with the door handle that gets popped off, you insert a screwdriver to push the latch forward and the door handle and gasket can be removed. My convertible has a rubber flap that is about 4 inches long that covers the area where the plug is on the hardtops. Does anyone have instructions for getting under the rubber flap without mangling it?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I recently replaced the driver’s side door handle gasket on my ‘96 convertible and I found myself in a similar situation. Could find lots of info on sedans but a few people saying that you need to remove the door panel to access on the vert. I had to adjust the window regulator and rebuild the door panel, so I did it while I was in there and everything turned out great, but it’s a bit of a contortionist act and you have to work from feel. Not a friendly space for large hands…
I still need to do the passenger side, although that door panel has never been off and I fear the anticipated breakage associated with popping it loose.
If there is a way to do it without removing the door card I’d love to see it; would certainly save some time and frustration with brittle door panels.
