    325ix in the winter

Hey everyone this past February I picked up a 89 325ix. Its been a fantastic car needed a little love but its almost to where I need it to be. I live in minnesota so the winter can be rough and my normal winter beater may just need to be junked. Curious how these E30s are in the winter ive heard good things but want a bit more confirmation.

I have an 88 ix in WI! Trying to keep it alive so no winter driving although it is rusty already haha. I've seen videos online of em plowing through snow! AWD system seems effective enough, so don't see why it wouldn't be just great. My own concern would be reliability leaving you stranded, so just make sure it's sorted.

Mine is also lowered too, so for that reason it wouldn't be practical.

I owned an iX for a number of years and it was my winter car. Assuming your AWD system still works, just add a set of winter tires and get ready for fun in the snow. I'd drive that car through anything Colorado could throw at me. It was always fun to pull up next to a Jeep at a stop light in the middle of a storm and then just stomp on the gas pedal from the green. The only time it wasn't so fun is at night when those storms with the really big snowflakes were falling came around. The factory ellipsoid headlights would scatter so much light on the snowflakes you couldn't see past it. I eventually converted to Euro ellipsoids and it was never an issue again.

BTW, if you haven't seen this video, enjoy the watch. (Or even if you have.)

The iX is great in snow - the only limitation is ground clearance.

I had no hesitation driving my IX in any snow condition. Snowy mountain passes in Washington state all day. Drove it back home to the east coast and never had problems with the shitty, icy roads
