    Question C Pillar Secret?

What is the secret of putting the C pillar cover in place? I think the passenger side is in; at least it looks like it. But the driver side one is driving me crazy. I've been trying for 3 days to do it. Either the front clips get in place with the rear clips not inserted or rear clips in place with front sticking out. There's got to be a easy way that one or some of you found. What is it?

Remove rear parcel shelve, I found it makes it easier. Bend the pillar slightly and insert rear pins, then work to the front.
Not an easy job by any means

    Recycled German Plastic

Mine are held in with Magnets epoxied to the back. Clips are fragile and old, good luck

Thank you. That's what I was afraid of and wanted to stay away from removing the rear parcel shelve.

Keen to know more about this fix - i.e. what magnets were used, type of epoxy and where on the trim did you glue them. Mine are just hanging on so this sounds like a good solution! Cheers.

If it were easy everyone would be doing it. (neodymium)

Look at your tabs BEFORE you try to place the C pillars. The direction you place is not necessarily the direction you think it would be. Trial place them a couple of times WITHOUT pressing it in. This way you understand the direction you push in the tabs. This is why most tabs are broken, because the pillar is not pressed into the retaining clips the correct orientation.

Was thinking of something like this for a pillar. More info?

    Magnets

I used some 5 minute epoxy mixed with microballons for volume. Got some cheap and strong rare earth magnets.

Picture is not of the final position of some of the magnets. I had to guess as to depth and then cut and realign them if they did not work. You want them to be flat with the metal structure for max grip.

Crude but they stay on with the windows down. IMG_20201126_074813_9.jpgIMG_20201126_074826_1.jpg
