Possible to install camshafts with engine in car?

Hey guys and gals(?),

This may be a stupid question.

Is it at all possible install cams in an M52b28 without pulling the engine or head? i.e. Just removing the valve cover, vanos, etc?

If so, can anyone point me to a good DIY? everything I've seen online only shows the DIY with engine or head on a bench.

I don't see why the tutorials don't apply when the engine is installed.

Yes, it's possible. It's a lot easier in terms of access but it can all be done with the motor still in the car.

Many of us have done it many times. I have used DIY that I have found in these forums. Pelican Parts may also have a DIY. Having done it many times, I certainly would not take the time to pull the motor since that would double or quadruple the time.
