Obd 1: Knock Sensor or Pinging

Car has 130k miles. Took the car WOT a few times check engine light popped up. Stomp test code mentioned knock sensor fault. Question is would that be caused by worn knock sensors or actual engine pinging?

Could be either. But at 130K, if the car still has the original knock sensors, they are probably held together by the bolt. It could also be fuel related as in pressure, or an injector, or a spark plug.

What's that supposed to mean? 130k miles is no significant number for a knock sensor. Knock sensors don't wear after X number of miles. I've never seen a knock sensor fall apart. I've removed quite a few and they were all fine.

OBD1 knock sensors like to split apart with age. Get yourself a new set and be sure to ensure the block side mating surface is free of any rust/corrosion when you install.

Noted thanks Brett! might as well just do the starter, seals and hoses on the intake manifold while I am in there.

Design wise, they look like obd2 sensors. What mskes obd 1 more prone to failure? Or are they the same failure rate
