1983 BMW 633csi Flex Disc replacement

Hello,

I recently acquired a e24 and was doing some required maintenance specifically on the absolutely destroyed front Flex Disc. After removing the Disc the "bar" connecting the transmission too the driveshaft is still connected (Picture for clarification). I have tried pushing the driveshaft away so i can squeeze the new disc in however its pretty stubborn. Will i have to drop the entire driveshaft or am i just to weak!. Any Help is appreciated Thanks

You will need to unbolt and lower the center support bearing. This will likely require removing the exhaust and heat shield, but that depends on the particular car; I can't remember on an E24. IF you have to remove the exhaust, be aware that it's very likely the bolts will be very rusted, and may break, meaning you might have to drill them out, which is bloody murder.
