Hello everyone, long term lurker over here finally posting.
I have a 1997 E36 M3 Sedan and I bought it with leaky PS hoses.
I kept an eye on levels for almost a year (too many more important problems to attend to) and finally got around to replacing the lines and reservoir.
The leaking stopped, but the slight whine and feeling in the steering wheel didn't change, which was to be expected.
I eventually replaced the pump with a remanned one when the whining got a bit worse. I bled it and everything was great with very random slight whine and subtle vibrations in the wheel.
2 weeks later, the whining got insanely loud and quite embarassing. I ended up taking my original pump apart and rebuilding it with the OEM kit. Everything internally looked great.
I installed that along with a used yellow tag ZHP rack that seemed to be in good health to replace my original 220k mile factory rack. The god awful whine went away but it still whines quite a bit more than I'd like and I can feel it quite a lot in the steering wheel. Everything has been replaced, and I can't imagine this sound or feeling to be normal.
I asked facebook and got nothing but sarcasm, so I'm hoping the good old forums can help me out!
Thanks everyone

What fluid did you use? Any bubbling in the reservoir after a drive?
