Source For front Rotors, 88 M6

I probably need new rotors, shimmy with braking. I cannot find any available other than StopTech for 265 each side, or Raybestos. No Zimmermann, no Ate, no Brembo. Any leads appreciated.

Rob, Try Autohaus AZ. I know I got Zimmermans for my 81 Euro there a few years back If yours aren't worn to bad have them cut. Most of your local parts stores should be able to do that

I'd be interested to hear if you find a set. I *just* replaced mine with some NOS BMW parts I grabbed on eBay a few years ago, but would probably put the next set away now if there's a good set available.

FWIW, you should check to make sure you don't have a sticking caliper (which is what I had). Rebuild kits are still available (and not pricey). I put an extra kit away as a spare also...

So far, nada wrt rotors. Calipers rebuilt in 2016 but I was thinking of getting some rebuild kits for whenever. Parts are getting harder to find.

    Rob,

    How about these? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...4116756090~kt/

They are for an E32 but they will work on the M6. I installed a pair of them on my M6 early last year.

Chuck, Nice find and great option.

I have a call into Ireland Engineering who has cross-drilled and slotted rotors on back order to see if back order means they are coming or no estimate of time of arrival. If no ETA, will go E32, thanks!

Happy to help! I acquired my M6 back in December 2020 and the first thing I tackled were the brakes. I could not find 300x30 rotors for the life of me and actually posted here for options. I’ve been looking for the original size since but haven’t found anything. These fit just fine.

"These" being the 302x28 E32 rotors?

I'm not saying they're incorrect (I have no idea, though they are listed as compatible on the MyE28 bolt-on upgrade thread) but I do wonder what the differences are beyond size...

Correct, I installed the E32 rotors based on other forum members suggestions and experiences. Finding the 300x30 rotors are very difficult. Other than size the only thing I noticed that was different was the absence of holes(cooling?) in the rotor hats.

These brakes were over-engineered in the first place. Unless you track your car, I can see no downside to the E32 compromise.

    Guys,

I track my 6 with E32 front brakes and it stops better than TIGER PAWS.

Uncle Rob, here's my new chariot:

Bob, I am on your group chat so I saw your new toy. I await you thinking there is a better way, having the car entirely apart, making upgrades and 10 years from now, getting it on the road...........yes I am an ass. I would have thought you would go with a Cadillac Fleetwood or the pimp car my dad had in the early70's, the Eldorado..........

    No upgrades except for ???????

I went with the car that gave the Eldorado a run for it's money by outselling the Caddy when the MKIII
    first came out in '69.
