    Catalytic converter

    2002 X5

Just picked it up and someone took a section out of the exhaust about halfway down the chassis. I assume they took the Cat. I was going to weld in a pipe to cover the area.

But, do I need to put a new cat in?

Will I need it to pass emission testing?

    Thanks

    Charles

Pics? The cats should be located closer to the engine. They probably deleted the resonators.

    Cats missing?

I am struggling with how to upload pictures to this forum. However, I can confirm that the sections of the exhaust are missing from both sides and in between the 02 sensors. Would that be the cats or resonators?

Fill out your car details and check out the exhaust.

GOt it. Looks like the segment between the 02 sensors is the catalytic converter.

Is this what you're looking for?

    https://shop.exhaustdistribution.com/x5-2/

Note that I have never purchased anything from them before, so I don't know the quality of their cats. But it's affordable.
