In my quest to improve the look of the car, I cut sections of the front bumper to make side pieces. Not perfect, but, looks better than the old diving boards, imo. Need to work on the coloring of them, and the rear center piece to give the car a more balanced look front to rear.

You could have told me that was an E30 bumper and I would have believed you as long as I didn’t closely inspect.
I think it looks a bit better. The euro bumpers aren’t as tall and I think that’s a big part of the improvement, which will be a tough feat unless you begin some serious hacking. But also I couldn’t give my bumper away for free so it may be worth the try..

Well, the little filler piece that goes above the rear bumper is flipped and resides down below, hiding the ugly gap in sheet metal that throwing Euros on normally gives.
The eye doesn't really catch it down there, and all the visual angles make it look like the sheet metal goes all the way back.
A little work with coloring or removing the side strip should balance it all nicely.
A novel idea, great work!

I like it! Definitely an improvement.
Nice job!
A question on the front. Is that a new front valance and lower trim or just the bumper removed. It looks really clean by the wheel well which usually has mounting holes, but yours looks covered up.
thanks,
Baron
Stock sheet metal, bumper removed, but found an IS lip at the bone yard a few years ago, put in on last year.
The driving lights cover the big holes, just used flat stock long enough to hang the lights tight to the valance, bolts up where the bumper shocks used to be. I secured them at the front, too, I think just zip tied them as a temp solution until I figure something out.
Where the mounting holes at the side were, I cut some sheet metal to length, shaped it, welded a bolt or nut on the back side, and voila! I'm amazed I got enough heat in it to hold the mounting bolt without burning through the sheet metal. As I say, ood rather be lucky than good.
Nice. I like the car with euro bumpers, but think it looks really nice with no bumper. You're the first that i've seen to weld in a piece to create a clean look on the outside ends. Once again, nice job.
