I知 interested to hear suggestions on when to replace/upgrade suspension parts. For those that have done this, what did you replace and at what mileage? Did you replace as preventative maintenance, performance upgrade, or because of part wear/failure?
I have a 2011 328i with 116,xxx miles. Replaced front wheel bearings, but every other component of suspension is original.
Appreciate the feedback

In my case, I replace the parts when I start hearing them making sounds, mostly when driving on uneven road or if found during an inspection something that soon will start doing the same. I think there's no specific mileage for suspension parts. It's really just a matter of brand you use and roads you drive.
I look at 2 factors, time and mileage. Most suspension components are built to last 120k miles, or about 10 years. While most of the time you don't notice the suspension being worn if you are driving it all the time. Of course if an item is worn, like a blown shock, then I tend to do all of them unless there is less then 40k on the vehicle.
Upgrades are out there, and that is the perfect time to do it when you are replacing worn components. I stay away from anything adjustable like coil-overs on a daily driver, just too much of a hassle attempting to dial it in.

I usually agree with dworthy, but in this case I don't think time or mileage as big a role, as where you live and how you drive.
NYC and Boston, your new parts are old as soon as you put them in!
Arizona and Nevada, just drive on until the end of time!
I知 replacing shocks at 120k (this weekend) because they池e just obviously done. No sounds but the car bounces around a lot and my front wheels keep catching on the fenders over bumps. It didn稚 do that 10k ago.
Thanks for the feedback all. Inspected the struts, bushings, etc. during oil change yesterday and they looked good. No noticeable clunks, clicks, or bouncing when driving, so I知 going to wait and continue to monitor.
I知 sure the time will come soon.
