Ever since my tuner tuned my car IÂ’ve been having drivability issues such as:
-Misfiring on startup for about 10 seconds
-Around 6 degrees of knock retard
-Rev hang
-Poor fuel economy
-Embarrassingly low torque
IÂ’ve been struggling with this for over a year and the only diagnostic codes I have are:
100 - DME control unit - Self-Test Failed
203 - Lambda Regulation Bank 2 Post Cat
228 - Mixture Deviation Bank 2
202 - Lambda Regulation Bank 1 Post Cat
227 - Mixture Deviation Bank 1
The car is a 1997 E36 328i Convertible running 93 octane with:
-M50 intake manifold
-Cat delete
-Sap delete
-ASC delete
-Airbox delete
-MS41.2 DME
IÂ’ve replaced:
-MAF
-IAT Sensor
-TPS
-O2 Sensors
-Crank Sensor
-Cam Sensor
-Idle Air Control Valve
-Spark plugs
-Coil Packs
None of these made any difference.
My tuner refuses to entertain the idea that there may be a problem with the tune and wonÂ’t help me, so IÂ’m left on my own to figure this out.
I donÂ’t have time to learn tuning from the ground up. I just want my car running properly in the cheapest and easiest way possible and the romraider forums have been overwhelmingly unhelpful and far, far from beginner friendly.
IÂ’ve been searching and can find no answers for the following:
-How can I safely flash a stock 328i tune to my
MS41.2 DME?
-Are MS41.1 bins compatible with MS41.2 DMEs?
-Could it be that I have M3 fuel and ignition tables? Would that cause my issues?
-Why donÂ’t I have knock adaptation? Why is my multiplicative adaptation on bank 2 so high?

-Why donÂ’t I have battery voltage, vehicle speed, or lambdas parameters in romraider logger?
Just getting my car to not feel like the slowest, most gutless car in the world has felt like an insurmountable task and IÂ’m leaning more and more towards selling the car even though I really donÂ’t want to. Any help at all is greatly appreciated.
I’m no tuner, but The easiest way back to square one (which will also run poorly due to all the changes you made) is to get a stock DME and do an EWS bypass and go.
Smoke test it? Hardware wise this is extremely straight forward.

I can't help with DME retune, but we are working on an MSPNP Pro for these ODB2 E36 cars, due out pretty soon I hope. And we have a list of dealers of whom many do tuning that could help in that case. https://www.diyautotune.com/dealers/
