    FS: Glovebox

E21 glovebox in great shape. It does not fit my 1981 correctly, so I assume it is for a pre-facelift 1977-79 model. Part # 1 873 072.
Asking $100 plus shipping, but would consider offers.

    Thanks,
    Max

Why doesn’t it fit? Too tight against an a/c console? If so, it could be an a/c delete glovebox that just need trimming.

Did you have to do that David? Yes we've heard the AC and non-AC came with slightly different gloveboxes.

Sounds like it is from a non AC car. I have had it stored for so long, I don't remember where I got it and why. It fits fine when it is open but if I try to close it, the left side hits the center console, so yes, too tight against A/C console. The glovebox that is original to my car is fine, so I never bothered making this one fit. I should remove the from in my car and see the difference...

Looking at the parts catalog, there are 2 versions of gloveboxes for 79-83, 51161826967 and 51161873071. "967" is only for U.S. cars, "071" is probably what I have- "072" could be older part number or something.

Yes, I had to cut a 1/2" or so off the left side of the glovebox. I should note that you cannot ever see the raw edge (open or closed).

Sounds like i have a non AC glovebox then. That is exactly why it did not fit my car, hitting the center console. Anyone is interested? It is in great shape, clean inside.

Someone switching to a non-Ac center console does not need it, but maybe they should just because the switch to non-AC to be done factory correct requires this other wider glovebox.
