Hello everyone my e34 525i m20b25 1989 ac works perfectly when the car is parked in not parked in the sun. When the car is parked for an hour or more in the sun it gets too hot, when i come back to the car and turn on the ac it gets cold but it take 5 minutes or more and the air isn't that cold. Can this problem be solved or it's because the car is old?
One more question about the blower power. When the fan is on 1 it's too slow and there is barely air coming out on 2 is faster but i should always put it on 3 to get good air is it normal?
It might be low on refrigerant, and if the auxiliary fan isn't working that certainly will degrade performance as well.
I find speed 1 suited for maintaining basic air exchange only. My AC is half brand new, fresh, and powerful, yet after the car's been in the sun it still takes about a minute to get cold air, and I run it at max speed for a few minutes to cool the cabin.
An E34 with the AC system in good shape can maintain vent temps at low fan speed of 38-40 degrees F, even when the outside temperature is 100F, while driving on the freeway at 50MPH. If the car has been parked soaking in the hot sun, the vent temps can rise to 130F, however, it slowly decays as the AC system cools down the cabin.
the blower fan speed is a different problem, see here http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Mainte...ical/Sword.htm

as yours is a EURO E34, that should have a sword which is easy to repair http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E3..._conditioning/
