Started the cleanup this morning. Found more rusted connections under the plastic wire guide/loom thingy. 2 wires are broken due to corrosion. 1 previously spliced wire has broken off. Had to cut 3 wires 'cos the nut holding that terminal is rusted solid and stripped when trying to get it out. An hour and half of toiling on the hot and humid driveway later, the box is out. Had to use Deoxit, PB Blaster, and finally CLR.

There was a thread on here authored by SilverIris related to same issue. He was cleaning out all the crud from junction box on a 750, and he also used some type of encasement to protect the box from being exposed to water again, hopefully even if floorboard was flooded again. I'll try to look for thread.

Take your time and clean it up nicely. This one is well worth saving. It looks like you have it all under control. Just make sure there are no more water leaks before you button her back up and all your hard work is done for nothing. It looks like someone was already in there and didn't source the water leak...

Post #23 has a link to a prior thread about this car. @TheAngreyBear helped the PO in the past with the same issues. Shop that did the cleanup work did not fix the problem of water intrusion.

Did some more cleanup of the electrical connections over the weekend. Most if not all the terminals are very badly rusted. I will cut and splice the new terminal ends from the replacement distribution box that I got from eBay.

After a long break, worked on the car yesterday. Got the dash to light up!!

Took the car out for a spin and found some new problems to fix

    - there’s a significant exhaust leak on the passenger side manifold. I can hear it at a cold start and it kind of mellow down as the engine gets warmer. There’s a good amount of smoke coming from that general area too.
    - I had to pull up the plastic cover over the wiring harness under the front passenger seat to work on replacing that distribution box. I’m doing that I must have broken some more corroded wires. Now I don’t have power going to the OBD port near the cup holder, central locking stopped working, interior lights stay on all the time, dash keeps showing that a door is open, power locks on the trunk are not working.
-Radio works, but the car will need all new speakers. They sound horrible.
-Air conditioning fans are blowing good. But not cold at all. Haven’t checked the heat.

Cleaned up all the debris in the channels and then gave the car a good soaking. So far, I’m not seeing water coming inside. I noticed a good amount of wind noise coming from the sunroof while driving. I got a new seal that will be installed.

Looking at all that wiring just… omg.

Have you thought about just ripping most of the interior out, and then driving it around until you’ve been able to chase all the demons down? Might save you some re-work in the long run?

The thought has crossed my mind. So far, all the electrical problems with this car seem to be located in one area. I'm waiting for a replacement part to fix this next set of corroded wires. Let's see how it goes from here.

    Thanks.

As it stands now, there is no problem at all with the drivability. Just that some of the electrical functions are not usable. I am hopeful of getting this wiring mess fixed up soon.
