I just got an 7K lbs asymmetric lift in my new garage. I am exploring where to install the posts such that I optimize my space around a car.

The idea is to locate the car’s center of gravity (CG) between the posts.

If BMW’s are generally 50/50 (+/- a few) then we can assume that the CG is the midpoint between the wheels. As such, the jack pads should be equidistant: Front wheel to front pad = rear wheel to rear pad.

This is the case with my n55 X5, but on the n55 F10 and n54 e60 the distance in the front is ~10” larger than the rear.

My instinct is to center the jackpads on the posts when on the lift. Im sure that being ~5” off center is not a big deal, but out of curiosity does anyone have any input/experience?
