    Question Recall parts...

    Having some difficulties here...

BMW issued a "Safety Recall" regarding Engine PCV Blow-by heater for my wife's car back in April, 2022.
They said in the letter that no parts are available at the time, and that they will contact us when they do became available.
Yesterday, I called BMW Canada to see if they now have the parts.
According to them, they do, and have been sending them to dealers for a while now.
So, I call the local dealer to make an appointment to replace the valve, but they're telling me
that they don't have the parts, and that they may not become available in months and months.
So, who is lying here, BMW Canada or the dealer?
Want to know how the dealer gets recall parts; do they request parts from BMW upon customer service appointments
or does BMW send them parts automatically as they become available?
Any parts guys here working at dealers who might comment on that?

I'm sceptical about the dealer. I don't think they order recall parts until a whole bunch of customers start screaming,
because if they did, methinks they would have to pay BMW for them right away, while the parts may sit at the dealer for months
until enough customers request service appointments.

Several years ago, the car was recalled for faulty air bags (apparently, they could explode, and kill you!), if you remember.
So, I waited for over a year and a half to get my dealer (different one, this time) to replace them.
    Nothing happened, no parts.
In the mean time, I took the car to Europe, and had the air bags replaced within a week after getting there.
They had them sitting on parts shelf for months, and months.

So, why such an issue between different places?
Are we getting screwed in North America by either BMW or their dealers or both?

Have you called other dealers in the area? What about in Montreal?

The dealer i checked with is the West island dealer in Montreal.
I don't time to drive around looking for other dealers in town.
Today, I got a letter from BMW Canada saying that they have the parts, and that I should contact my local dealer right away to get the valve replaced.
I'm gonna go there tomorrow, and shove this letter into their face, and say, "Look, you have the part. Change the phucin thing NOW!!!".
    Pissed off now...
