Front upper strut mounts; hard? soft?

This is addressed slightly in post #5 in this thread: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...-1985-BMW-745i

Maximillian lists two different part numbers. One is for "hard" mounts, the other for "soft".

I would assume the 745i had the hard mounts.

    Hard part number 31 33 1 121 551

    Soft 31 33 1 121 552

Thankfully, both are still available. About $340 for the pair with shipping.

Any input on choosing between hard and soft? And yes, I know, I am setting you guys up for some bedroom jokes.

Let me find the set I ordered...I think they were the costlier option.

And the jokes are what you decided.

    00 MRoadster '83 745i,
If you can believe a couple sellers on ebay, the softer ones are the more expensive.

Maximillian has both part numbers but describes them both as "hard white".

Or what my wife decided. She is just too kind to vocalize it.

    00 MRoadster '83 745i,
Found one hard one on ebay. Also found one rear. Figure I may as well do both front and rear while I am at it. May have to pay retail for the other two.

Got one on ebay for about $150. Looks like I have to pay almost $200 for the second one.
