Up for sale is an E36 M3 S50/S52 Vortech T-trim Supercharger and Intercooler kit with an 8 rib pulley conversion to eliminate belt slippage. This supercharger setup is paired to a custom intercooler kit with all aluminum piping. The tune was created by TRM and while this was paired to an OBDII S52 the engine was converted to OBDI and the tune is an OBDI tune. This tune was awesome and worked great for MY car. Your car is different, and I'm a proponent of getting a tune to fit your specific build but to each their own.
Fitment: This will be a direct plug and play swap for any E36 Sedan/Ti OBD1 S50/S52 car. I would suspect this is also true of the E36 Coupes as well. Of course installing this in an S50/S52 would be easiest, but as many of you already know this setup can also be mounted to an M52 (328i/is) vehicle as well. That would require a new tune though.
This can be converted back to OBDII with minor modification to the engine sensors (Crank, Cam, Knock, Vanos Solenoid) and again a new tune. If it were my car I would just convert it over to OBDI and keep the current tune.
With potential modification to the wiring harness, intercooler piping (because of potential fitment issues with the E30 engine bay), drive shaft, and cooling system, this will fit into any E30 car with an S50 (a new tune would not be needed considering it’s already OBD1).
Take note, I do not have an updated dyno sheet. However, I do have my original dyno sheet (from before the T-trim rebuild and upgrade) and this setup made 381whp on a Dynojet Dyno. Less than a year before removal, I had a complete rebuild by Vortech as well as a T-trim upgrade. This allows for greater airflow and power output all at lower psi. Further, I’ve upgraded the crank and supercharger pulley to an 8 rib setup to ensure there is no belt slippage and no power loss. I’ve also mated all of this to a completely custom intercooler setup with hard aluminum piping silicone boots that allows for less than a 2psi drop across the range. In the end this setup produces more power, with a lower psi (topping out at 8psi at the gauge) which preserves engine and parts longevity. Why an intercooler? Because they maintain power longer and do not suffer heat loss like air to water systems over longer periods of performance use. This was on a road race car, so it made sense for me. Since the T-trim rebuild/upgrade the motor has gone through several tune revisions with TRM I would guess it makes closer to 405whp. It just ran so well, I never took the time to go back to the dyno for an updated sheet.
Original Supercharger/Intercooler Costs:
Dinan Vortech V2 kit - $4500.00
Full factory rebuild with T-trim impeller upgrade (very few miles on it since) - $1200.00
Custom machined 6.5" 8 rib crank pulley - $399.00
2.93" 8 rib blower pulley (around 9psi after pressure drop from intercooler) - $111.30
Continental Elite 4040405 belt - $14.97
Bosch Green Giant 42Lb injectors - $341.01
TRM OBD1 custom tune (several revisions to get it to this point) - $649.99
27"x7"x2.75" air/air intercooler - $176.25
Custom 2.5" 2mm aluminum intercooler piping kit – Should fit any E36 - $500.00
803 MAF with OBD2 re-pinned MAF plug - $257.20
Rally Road Engineering supercharger/turbo oil feed bung - $29.90
This kit should be ready to go once installed. All vehicles are different and there will likely be some fitment issues you need to address. That being said, I'm not your tuner or mechanic and cant advise you on how to build or setup your car. Understand this is a used kit that is in good shape. Like everything else, you WILL have to make modifications, changes, and tune revisions to get it where you want it. Also, I would highly recommend a new air filter. The one included is very beat up and I'm simply leaving it attached to the MAF for added protection. Feel free to ask any questions. I'm also happy to send additional pictures.
Asking $4000.00

If you are making only 8 psi with a 6.5/2.93 pulley set, you have serious restriction through that intercooler or major belt slip. 6.5/2.93 x 3.6 x 7000 = 55,900 blower speed at 7000 rpm. With less blower speed (6.0” eight rib with 2.8” pulley) my V2 T trim on an S52 made 16 psi.
405 rwhp, if accurate, would be truly extraordinary for 8 psi. I’d expect that from roughly 12 psi on an S52 with intercooler and many mods.
Maybe the boost gauge is no good.
I’d also be very concerned about 42 lb injectors with 55k blower speed from a V2 T Trim on an S52. I had to use 60 lb injectors to have reasonable AFR. I actually melted my first S52 when running 42s and less blower speed. 42s, which are actually flowing about 46 lbs at BMW pressure of 3.5 bar because the 42 lb rating is at 3 bar, should be fine for the 405 rwhp but I would be concerned after that.
Not arguing with you at all. The setup has been off of the car for a while now. If I recall, I dont believe the gauge was reading over 9-10. That being said, as a road race car I was also very careful not to max out rev's and I was most definitely concerned with longevity and reliability as opposed to max hp. The hp figure was simply a suggestion. As you indicated, the engine did have many many mods, including a fair amount of head work including springs, valves, porting, cams, etc.
