Has anyone replaced their rear bumper recently? If so, where did you source it from?
My rear bumper is cracked in the center and doesn't appear to be repairable. The options seem to be:
1) $$$$ OEM - Non-M is almost $900 and M-sport is double that at over $1800
2) "bumpermegastore.com" claims to have a refurbished m-sport for just under $800
3) OE Replacement Non-M - about $400
4) ebay M-sport eastern Europe - fiberglass (?) or some other hybrid material $350-800 range
5) Junkyard (not having much luck here on location or condition)
I'm not dead set on M-sport even though it obviously looks better, but I'm intrigued by the so called "refurbished" one from bumpermegastore as its the same price as the OEM non-M.
Call a few auto body shops and ask if they do plastic welding. Polyvance is major supplier in this area. I had a shop repair my cracked M-Sport front bumper and the repair is very strong. More importantly, you would not know it was repaired just by looking at it from the front.
Get a few quotes and obviously compare that vs the cost of a replacement and painting costs. The aftermarket fiberglass replacements are trash. Would not recommend anything but a OE bumper cover.
