I have a 2001 E39 525i Touring, manual. I've had a soft brake pedal for a while. I know when you get a soft pedal it means there could be air in the system or the MC is dead. I tried bleeding the brakes and the right rear and left front will not bleed, nothing comes out. I take the bleeder screw all the way out and they are both bone dry. I installed a new MC thinking that was the problem but nope, I'm getting the same results. Does anyone know if I'm missing a step or is something else faulty? The right front and left rear bleed just fine.

You need to cycle the ABS pump when bleeding out the system. So depending on what year your wagon is, since you don’t list your cars year, would help everyone help you better if you did, early E39’s up to 2000 had the 20 pin Pacman port in the engine bay to hook up your scan tool to, you need one that has the ability to work the ABS solenoids. Or, if your car is newer than 2000, then you hook the scanner up to the OBD2 port under the dashboard. The olser cars also have an OBD2 port under the dash, but on those cars, the port will only give you vin number info, and the hook up for emissions testing.

Sorry, I have a 2001 E39 525i Touring, manual
Well, then you need to hook up a capable scanner to the OBD2 port under the dash that can cycle the solenoids on the ABS to bleed the brakes properly.
