Replaced the whole suspension on my '98 M3 convertible (70k miles) with OE/OEM parts, decided on new springs also - not necessarily because they were needed, but because at that point I was replacing everything else so why not see exactly what the car felt like new...
The problem is that the new springs seem to be a revision (???) as I've been sent two sets of OE springs (part # 31332228177, 4 pink marks/also marked Eibach 2 228 177.9 - 49/17 - confirmed several time with BMW) and the car still sit at 617/622mm - which is 1.1"/1.3" high based on Bentley and my BMW dealers alignment spec sheet.
I can't figure out any other solution and neither can the local BMW dealer or the very competent indy I use.
I wish I hadn't tossed the old spring -but now a used set of OE springs seems like the best solution. LPM me and t me know if you have set of take offs. Thanks!
TLDR: new OE front springs sit very high, want your take off M3 convertible springs to swap in.
I have an old set from an M3. I'll have to check which year. A buddy of mine had them and my Vert had rear broke springs so I got them and used just the rears as the fronts aren't the same from an M and a non M version. I replaced the entire set with H&R's so they are just sitting in the box. The car they came off of isn't a convertible.
