'01 325CI - Manual shit boot cover replacement

(Sorry for the unintended profanity in the subject. Don't know how to edit that line. I meant "SHIFT BOOT").

I can't find any DIY videos on this, anyone know? Current leather boot has rip in it - time to replace... Thank you.

The shifter cover is pretty easy to replace. The first step is to remove the shifter knob. It’s merely pressed on to the shifter. Pull the knob up with both hands. The bottom part of the cover is held in place by a plastic frame that engages with the console. Gently press one side of the frame towards the shifter and it’ll pop off.

So this knob is not wanting to come off so easily. Are we sure they're all "pull up" knobs? No threading orl anything? Any time I seem to use brute force, things don't work out so great :-). Pic attached if that helps. thank you again

Just don't stand over the shifter while you pull. It will release instantaneously and slam into your forehead. Yes, I did this. No, I am not the only one.

That's funny. I can absolutely see myself doing that. It reminds me of when I showed up at my GF's house a couple years ago and she was sporting a nice black eye! I asked what happened? She said she had this crappy T-shaped corkscrew and was trying to open a bottle of wine. She got the screw in, and started tugging and tugging, and POP! Out it came and she punched herself in the eye and gave herself a nice shiner. I was afraid to go anywhere with her because everybody would think I popped her! Fortunately she wore sunglasses all day.
