    Blower Motor Resistor Problems

    08' E90 328i

For starters, I know there is a recall on this particular issue that was issued 5 years ago for this model. But I digress

I have had AC problems for the past week or so due to air not being blown out of my vents. The fan speed was 2 pegs from max, but no air movement. Smacking the cover beneath the glovebox seemed to fix the problem temporarily before the motor would stop spinning. I had this exact problem in the past... a blown Blower Motor Resistor. Replaced it and everything was fine. Same exact problem came back, but much... much worse. The 4 pin connector was melted on pins 1 and 2, and you could see where the plastic has melted onto the resistor. The connector had visible damage where it was melted, AND it continued almost to the wires. Needless to say, the Connector and Resistor are terrible and genuinely surprised nothing caught on fire. Just to verify that everything still "works", installed the new one with the bottom cover removed... everything works just fine. Right as the bottom panel is put back on, Blower Motor stops working and same problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or know where to buy a replacement connector, because I do not believe RealOEM has it on their website?

Easiest would be to hit up a local pick-n-pull to grab another connector. Or just head to the dealership and have them pull you the P/N to order from them.

Your 14-year old blower may be failing and overheating, which will also melt the new connector you put it. I'd jumper the connector and see what happens.
