Emergency - Need Help To Manually Release Parking Brake on 2011 550i

    hello wonderful ppl,

i bought a 2011 BMW 550i that only came with the metal key, key fob is missing.

i have managed to put the car in neutral, but the parking brakes have been engaged. How do i release the parking brakes.

I have removed all the carpet in the trunk and looked for the parking brake string to no avail.

can someone please help me locate the parking brake release harness.

Another question, option #2, can i have the stealership program a new key fob?

    thank you,
    Yusif

You can have the dealer program a new key yes, if you can turn the ignition on, you press the brake and push the button down. If you cannot turn the ignition on, there are two hex bolts on the rear of the brake calipers that release the brake motor, which you can then turn the 12 point in the caliper itself. Dealers require a title and an ID to program a new key.

thank you for your response, i'm not able to turn the ignition on with the metal key. i went ahead and ordered the key fob alone for the stealership, $400.

for now the tow truck driver using a wench to pull the car out of the trailer, i'm hoping no damage to the transmission.

Just keep an eye out on the lower control arms if they yanked without using the tow hook, usually the only damage will be to the tires which may end up having flat spots. I am surprised he did not use some dollys to move it.
