i've changed mechatronics sleeve, bridge, the whole kit w/ OE ZF parts and filled correctly w/ right fluid, and done gearbox adaptation and still have these code, is there anything else that could cause these codes other then bad EGS?
Or does anyone know someone w/ knowledge of this that i could contact?
thanks,ms
still on original solenoids? were you getting 4F81 before servicing the transmission? bad shift solenoids will cause this problem a lot more often than a bad EGS. been there, done this with my E60.
ZF solenoids are 2 or 3 yrs old. i did not get that code before changing out sleeve, bridge and seals, but previously before the repair i did get "4E89", solenoid valve 1 or 2 mechanically jammed". since the repair that code has not returned.
ive cleared codes 3 different times and got same 4F81, 507c, once started cold and just got just 4F81.
did u have exact same issue im having? how did u determine it was your solenoid and which one?
I had repeated 4F85 codes in my E60 (6HP19 transmission). Those 4F8X codes are all essentially the same, they're just slip codes and the last number is telling you what clutch pack is slipping. 4F81 is for the A drum. I changed out everything you did, along with all of the solenoids in the valve body; that did the trick for me. What fluid did you use? What prompted the solenoid replacement 2-3 years ago?
i went with castrol import, it worked fine for 2 to 3yr since last time i was in it with mechatronic sleeve an seal kit an solenoids.
i done all that do to same types of probs, but it turned out to be spark plugs, i changed out iridiums for laser platinums and got all kinds of trans probs, changed em back and probs went away, not so easy this time.
yea that's a tough one. I was always wary of using any fluid other than ZF Lifeguard6, I just didn't want to take any chances. But I don't think that's your problem. How many miles on the car/transmission? I could also very well just be worn out and need a rebuild or a replacement, the clutch packs do eventually wear out.
