I'm gonna assume that this thing is so far NLA that it's not even worth asking the question, so instead of that, when the little red light refuses to light up anymore when you push a button and you've bought new batteries and replaced them and it still doesn't show any signs of life, does anyone know of any repair options for this IR keyfob?
I'm afraid this kind of DIY work is way beyond my knowledge and capabilities. Any help please or is this the end of remote central locking for me?

Yeah Schmiedmann is where I started too. They're great for parts new and used, but their shipping is really, really annoying. They insist on using the world's most expensive express DHL shipping for everything with no other options. I've given them a quote to price up for me including all the seals I need for the leaking ZF, the rear diff half shafts, the gasket for the diff cover plate and the new keyfob remote controller. A laundry list of parts that total a massive 141 grams in weight. Their postage quote for that was €115!!
I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost €115 to post 141g unless the destination is the moon!
I looked up Postnord Danmark instead and found out they will charge 96kr to post a box weighing 500g of max dimensions 30x30x30cm. The biggest item is the diff cover gasket at 25x25cm and weighing nothing, so even that will fit in a 90cm³ (shipping dims) box, thereby confirming that Schmiedmann really are taking the piss when it comes to shipping costs. I have a feeling that Schmiedmann are really in the logistics business, not the car parts one. Wish I had family in Denmark who could just pick the parts up and take them to the post office and save €100 Euro for me.
next time order such a small weight volume from your local dealer in Perth, even if parts are more expensive, in total it might be cheaper. If Schmiedman gets the parts, your local dealer will too, as both order from BMW Germany.

Oh god no. Australian dealers are utterly useless and will charge three times what anyone else will. Australian dealers hold no stock of anything except oil filters. I learnt long ago to not bother with the Australian dealers. Instead, I've managed to cajole Schmiedmann into suggesting to me that I organise Portnord postage myself online. I've got a pre-paid postage label, packing instructions and a delivery point. Postnord Danmark is quite good by their online experience, and vastly cheaper than the ridiculous courier services Schmiedmann insist on using. 96kr for Postnord vs €114.25 via Schmiedmann postage quote. One will take 10 days to arrive, the other 3. I can wait the 10 days for a 90% cheaper service.
Schmiedmann have just told me the ETA to get a new IR remote fob from BMW AG to Denmark is end of July! 0_o
