Hello! I have a 1988 BMW convertible E30 325i, and have had it since 1996. Recently, I replaced the car battery, and as a result the radio locked on the “CODE” display screen. I have entered the code multiple times to no success, as well as leaving the radio on for two hours and then entering it, to no success as well. The radio only emits a beep noise upon pressing the first “one”, (the first digit) so I’m unsure if my inputs are being registered? Prior to replacing my battery, the radio was functioning completely fine and without any issue.
I have lost the manual and so it’s possible the code is incorrect or I misremembered it (though I am fairly confident I have not), I wanted to explore other options before removing the radio and checking for serial number to find it, as I don’t believe that the code being incorrect is the problem. More likely it seems like it is not accepting my inputs, or another problem is present. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!
Hi,
You can try finding out if there's any car audio electronics places that still do Code removal or rewriting etc. If nothing comes about from that, there's not much else you can do unless you want to find another known working unit and purchase that to put into the car.
Else, I'd say buy a modern single DIN head unit
Cheers, Dennis!
