I just noticed today for the first time that each exterior door handle in my ‘22 has a clear window area on the bottom edge facing down towards the road. Are these sensors or cameras for the lane departure assist? I thought that feature was monitored by the main camera in front of the rear view mirror. A friend was bragging about all the cameras his Tesla 3 had on the sides and I’d love to tell him mine also has them in the handles.
PS - these downward facing sensor/camera windows are different than the LEDs that are on the backside of the handles.

Nevermind, just realized tonight that they are also LEDs. So each door handle has two. Meh

Yeah, that's to light the ground before opening the doors. Is it a bit of overkill? Maybe but I am sure it has been asked for by the population.
