Couple years back I put Bilstein B6 dampers on my E60. Immediately afterwards I noticed a clunk on certain dips in the road. Nothing was loose in the front end and I looked at the engine mounts and they were sagging.
I've been putting off the job for a while, but now a friend has a 4 post lift and is willing to let me use it and help. I went over the other day and pulled off the belly pans for a better look since all I'd done previously was look using an endoscope camera. See vid: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B9PyNQyoM6g
I'm going to get an engine support bar so I can drop the subframe and do the work. Can I lower it enough to do the job without disconnecting suspension parts?
It’s probably more involved than you think. Might be info at 5 series dot net and a utube video. I did mounts when changing turbos, oil pan gasket and rod bearings. Axle goes through subframe and suspension attaches to subframe and space is tight around mounts so I don’t know if you can just lower a little. I did a lot more but it was not fun and took a long weekend. Engine support bar sits pretty far forward but does hold. I have a 4 post. Would not want to do this on my back but I am sure some have.
