    VANOS help!

    Hey Guys,

    I need a bit of advise. I constantly and randomly get the following error codes. F31 320i xdrive (N20).

    ============1==============
    P0015
    Raw code: 0015
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Pending
    OBDII: Camshaft position (CMP) actuator, exhaust/right/rear, bank 1 - timing over-retarded
    BMW: "B" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Retarded

    ============2==============
    130308
    Raw code: 130308
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed during this operation cycle

    ============3==============
    120408
    Raw code: 120408
    ECU: Engine control unit
    Status: Pending, Confirmed, Test failed since last DTC clear

    The timing set had been replaced 10k miles ago. So far, I've replaced the following:
    1. Fresh oil and filter
    2. Replaced exhaust vanos solenoid
    3. Swapped the timing crank sensors around

    None of above fixed it. Any ideas where to go from there?

    Does this car have a rattly timing chain? Is it possible it had slipped timing?

    Thanks for getting back. The timing chain was replaced approx 10k km ago, and it was running fine, so I don't think it's causing the issue.
