'99 M Roady with 18" wheels
PO chose Michelin 225x45 front tires which rub on every sharp turn.

I'm think any Michelin (or other brand) 225x40 will be okay. Any thoughts?
Those are E39 wheels and as such the offset is wrong for the Z3. I would suggest getting wheels that are designed to fit your car but if you want to try to make these not rub you can probably stretch a 215 or 205 on it maybe with a smaller sidewall... I don't know if just dropping the sidewall aspect ratio to 40 will be enough to eliminate the rubbing, but it also depends on how you drive the car

If your rims are E39 OEM BMW, the offsets are all wrong for a Z3M. If they are aftermarket rims, all bets are off as to offsets. The offsets are either cast or stamped on the rims, with the designation “ET xx”. The stock Z3M offsets are ET41 front for a 7.5” width, and ET8 rear for a 9” wide rim. You need to stick pretty close to these numbers.
Also, those rims shown should be the larger E39 74.1mm hub centers that require hub-centric rings to use on any other BMW hub which is smaller diameter.
