Recently I had an issue with the right door lock on my 2005 330Ci ZHP coupe. While troubleshooting whether it was the lock actuator or the GM5, I hooked up the battery and turned the key on while the passenger side airbag was disconnected. After I replaced the door actuator with a new one and put everything back together, I noticed an Airbag light. I have an XTool D7 that found the trouble code but would not reset it. Researched some more and that led me to purchasing a Creator 310+ BMW scanner. Set the scanner up as per the directions. However, I just tried it and it does the same thing as the D7 does. It deletes the airbag light momentarily, but it comes back on.
I realize now the I should have connected the airbag module prior to reconnecting the battery, but I didn't so now I have a problem. I've disconnected both connectors on the battery and touched the together. Reconnected the battery with the same results as before. Can anyone provide some guidance?
Thanks.

What specific codes do you have? If the airbag light comes on immediately, then something is broken or disconnected. Turning on the ignition while airbags are disconnected is a very common thing. I'm not sure how you test window regulators, and such, by not doing it. When reset the light will stay off unless you have a problem.
Best random guess is the door airbag isn't properly connected.

1994 SN95 Mustang 'Vert (The Bumblebee)
2001 325i Convertible (Beach cruiser project)
Thanks. I'll check that. The code was either 6 or 06.

Thanks, Mike, for pushing me into investigating the possibility that I screwed up on my initial repair. Removed the door card and found the connector to the airbag wasn't fully secured. The 310+ cleared the code. D7 probably would have too. It's hell when you create your own problems.

Did the nearly the same thing this week in my new (to me) 2005 X3. I was replacing the speakers in the front doors, and while I was in the junkyard for some other parts I came across a great X5 sport steering wheel and airbag. So I got them and installed them in my X3. I started it up to test and make sure the steering wheel buttons work (they do) and forgot I had the door airbags unplugged! Luckily I have the Creader unit, so I was able to reset my airbag light no problem. Then I realized my 4x4 warning light was on, but a quick internet search revealed I just needed to turn the wheel all the way left then right and it would reset (which it did!)
