Cylinder Head Minimum Thickness After Decking

How exact is the minimum thickness (140mm list on TIS)? I have a head that is close to minimum and needs to be decked for a final time. It should come out right on the minimum, but can't say for sure until the machinist is done.

Obviously I want to adhere to spec. Just curious what experiences others have with this and how loose it can be.

    Thanks.

I have decked below minimum before. Obviously puts you closer to contact in a mis-shift over rev but we know you would never make that mistake. And there would be less room for higher lift cams but you don’t run them. A good person to ask might be Scotch — whatever survives racing use should be fine.

There is also the Cometic 0.080 MLS but you probably don’t want to use a non stock type gasket.

This engine is getting 264/270 Schrick supercharger cams. I'll definitely need to measure clearance.
